Window stays
These are for opening casement windows, not sashes and not (without some thought and fiddling) for horizontally hung windows.
There's a multitude of choices here. We offer three sizes - eight inch, ten inch and sixteen inches. Each of the three sizes comes with options to choose left-hung window casement version, right-hung or universal.
And they all come in four styles. These are the monkey-tail, with the end extended and curled up to make a handle, flat-ended, spoon ended and with a brass knob.
Opening windows came late to the domestic building scene and different smiths used different ways of making the universal joint (up and down and sideways) which is required. We use what we think is the simplest and most effective.
The stay is held open - or closed - by engaging holes in the stay with simple pins driven into the cill section of the frame.
